Life in the fast lane

Thirteen months since I have Blogged. Not that I haven’t written, I just haven’t written online. I exist again because I have the beginnings of an artistic website, www.createfriesen.com, to show a little of what I’ve been up to this last twenty-two months with an art studio.

I just reread “The Machine Stops”, which was written by E. M. Forster in 1909 and am amazed at some of the advancement towards his vision since the last time I read the short story. Flat screens, interconnected computers and a more advanced online social networking envisioned a hundred years in advance. I also remember reading many science fiction stories in the 1970’s about rogue giant computers taking over the world, a prime example would be “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream” (also a 1995 home video game) by Harlan Ellison, who my sister collects and I have an aversion to. When will life be so fast paced that we can’t keep up? Three thousand unread emails and counting.
